A post had implied that the 16 year old child responsible for the fatal accident happened in Welisara on 4th October 2021 is the son of a JVP politician called B. I. Abdeen who contested at the Local Government Election for Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha. However, the news reports on the accident did not reveal the identity of the minor or his parents, while one report had mentioned that the owner of the luxury vehicle driven by the teen belonged to his father, a jewelry businessman in the Mahabage area in Welisara. Both the boy and the father had been arrested over the accident. On 5th November, B. I.
