On March 6, a Colombo-based Tamil hotelier of Indian origin, Velusamy Muthuswamy, addressed a press conference to announce the formation of a new political outfit called Ilankai Bharatiya Janatha Katchi (IBJK) or Sri Lanka BJP, to further the socio-economic development of all Sri Lankans. Velusamy Muthuswamy has categorically denied any links to the Bharatiya Janata Party, India’s ruling political party.
