This report is Confirmed false
and is of
Medium Priority.
Here is why -
The social media post in question had used a letterhead of the NPP and mentioned that the NPP is to organize a series of trade union actions in protest against the proposed prohibition of Sri Lanka Jamaat-e-Islami (SLJI) by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Attacks and the arrest of its former president Rashid Akbar, as SLJI is one of the founding members of the NPP. The NPP refused that they issued such a statement: https://tinyurl.com/dcdk82dz. However, the fact that SLJI is one of the founding members of the NPP is true: https://tinyurl.com/5yay8tbd. SLJI has rejected the allegations levelled against it be the Commission: https://tinyurl.com/yn8wnh46. SLJI's name does not appear in the list of 11 Islamic organizations prohibited by Regulations made under section 27 of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act. Find the list of prohibited organizations here (Extraordinary Gazette No. 2223/3, 13 April 2021): http://documents.gov.lk/files/egz/2021/4/2223-03_E.pdf.
