A public awareness campaign for Global Climate Action was organized by the Youth Wing of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society to create awareness about the unprecedented rate of environmental destruction occurring across the island. The Chief of Colombo’s Police Environment Unit who visited the site said the mural was set up without approval from the Police Environment Unit.The mural was erected opposite the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo, to coincide with the International Climate Action Day.The organization had acquired all the necessary approvals for the mural however no explanation has been provided by the CMC as to why they have moved to remove it. https://www.newsfirst.lk/2021/03/19/ecocide-mural-at-viharamahadevi-park-taken-down/
