Here is why -
An external fact checker had found out that two images used in this social media posts are from March 2020, when a bout of panic buying happened in Australia, at the early stage of the pandemic. The remaining photo is from November 2020, when a short lockdown was imposed in Adelaide. Currently there is no shortage or rationing of food in Australia, even though people who are worst affected by the pandemic are finding it difficult to afford food, resulting in a long queue at one food aid organization. Read the fact check here (Sinhala): https://srilanka.factcrescendo.com/2021/09/30/2020-images-during-panic-buying-shared-out-of-context-portraying-to-a-food-crisis-in-australia/.
Local context: There are food shortages in Sri Lanka currently, especially milk powder, turmeric, and sugar. It appears that these posts are trying to imply that the food shortages are not limited to Sri Lanka only, and that's a global situation.
