Here is why -
Several social media posts had claimed that Gampaha district Forest Officer Devani Jayathilaka had summoned Ven. Nauyane Ariyadhamma to courts for cutting an Acacia tree to build an "Awasageya", which is an accommodation facility for monks. This had been mentioned first by the President of the Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha, Piyasena Kariyapperuma during a Gampaha district Livelihood Development Committee meeting. Devani Jayathilaka had confirmed with an external fact checker that the issue involving Ven. Nauyane Ariyadhamma (not related to an Acacia tree) was resolved through an intervention by the Attorney General's Department and the thero, his institution, or the patrons' committee of the institution was not summoned to courts. The president and the secretary of the patrons' committee had also confirmed this. However, Devani Jayathilaka had confirmed that two cases have been filed against the patrons' committee of the Navimana Forest Monastery, and probably the President of the Pradeshiya Sabha was mistaken about the name of the institution.
