It seems that people had shared this post to mostly satirize Prof. Jayasumana, and also the political group he represents called "Viyathmaga". However, Prof. Jayasumana had issued a statement to a national newspaper on 4th July 2019, stating that nowadays hospitals appoint an additional Sinhala doctor for a caesarian surgery if a Muslim doctor is conducting that, due to what Dr. Shafi did. Prof. Jayasumana is also known as a person who seeks god Naatha's advice often. On 27 June 2019, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had informed the court that there was no evidence to prove Dr. Shafi had carried out any forced sterilizations, had links to extremists organizations or had amassed wealth illegally.
