Many gossip websites and social media pages had claimed that Rosy Senanayake, Mayor of Colombo Municipal Council had spent LKR 68,000 cheese and LKR 250,000 on short eats last year and had gotten 14 A/C machines installed in her official residence, and had generally spent public money to pay salaries for her personal staff and buy day-to-day groceries etc. Those sites further claimed that Colombo Municipal Councilor Mahinda Kahandagama has complained to the Bribery Commission on this regard as well.
