As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Namal Rajapaksa was appointed as the Minister of Development Coordination and Monitoring, a brand new portfolio, in addition to his existing Minister of Youth and Sports and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development portfolios. With that, social media and a few web outlets reported that 64 public institutions have been placed under his supervision. However, this seems to be a misreading of the gazette which outlines the Purview, Subjects and Functions, Special Priorities, and Related Institutional and Legal Framework of the new Ministry (pages 4-5), along with some other details related to the Presidential Secretariat and some other Ministries.
