Many social media posts had attributed this quote to Prof. Neelika Malavige Professor in Microbiology at University of Sri Jayewardenepura. This was a misrepresentation of a statement made by the professor at a press conference held on the 24th September, where she mentioned that people belonging to certain categories such as people suffering from chronic kidney disease, those who are above the age of 60 etc. might require to be vaccinated annually.
