A Whatsapp message shared widely claimed that Sri Lanka’s Covid 19 death rate has reached the same as that of neighbouring India. The message was shared along with an info graphic showing the same.The source of the info graphic used in the message was evident that the info graphic had been sourced from the site ‘Our World Data'.In the info graphic the Covid 19 death rate of India and Sri Lanka appear to have reached the same number. It has been created using Covid 19 death numbers based on a 7 day average per one million people in each country to arrive at the death rate depicted in it. Based on the data used by the Our World Data site we conclude the claim that on June 11, Sri Lanka and India reached the same death rate is true.
