Over the past week, various media reports claimed that country was staring at an acute food shortage. The Sri Lankan government, however, on Thursday denied that the country was facing a food shortage, underlining that the Public Security Ordinance on the supply of essential goods was imposed only to stop their hoarding. Since there are claims from various sources it is impossible to verify but probably true due to the prevailing situation.
