This report is Confirmed false
and is of
Low Priority.
Here is why -
Sri Lanka under alleged Chinese pressure has approved the emergency use of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine. The approval was granted by National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).This development occurred after the chief of NMRA, resigned facing pressure for approving Sinopharm. He was not satisfied about third stage trial data,Sinopharm has not yet been approved by WHO. The UN agency also dismissed claims that WHO approval was given for the vaccine as a result of talks between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Director-General of the WHO Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The Emergency Use Listing (EUL) of the WHO process usually takes two to three months to complete, depending on the quality and availability of the data submitted by the vaccine developers, among other factors and the prequalification process is more complex and thus takes longer.
