Several international media has reported that there have been violent confrontations between the police and anti-lockdown protesters in Australia. Several police officers had been injured. The police have also admitted that they had to resort to using the pepper spray on several people. Sri Lankan context: Sri Lanka is currently under lockdown, and two three weeks before that there were island wide protests organized by teachers asking for salary increments. These received mixed responses from the public. Those who criticized those protests are now using the Australian example to advocate for violent/stringent curbing of protests.
