In April 2020, prominent human rights lawyer Hejaaz Hizbullah was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for alleged involvement in the Easter Sunday bombings in April 2019. Attorney-at-Law Upul Kumarapperuma is affiliated with the National People's Power, an electoral coalition in Sri Lanka. No mainstream media had reported that Upul Kumarapperuma stated that Hejaaz Hizbullah is innocent and that he has given weapon training for kids for the PUBG game only. The implication that he has in fact given weapon training for kids for whatever reason too remains unfounded.
